YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH EGYPT

Seven Days Between Cairo and the Desert Oracle

Journey beyond Egypt’s iconic monuments to discover one of its most remote and enchanting landscapes. From Cairo’s timeless Nile to the candlelit silence of Siwa Oasis, this extraordinary escape reveals a side of Egypt few travellers ever experience. Ancient oracle temples, forgotten mud-brick fortresses, shimmering salt lakes, and endless golden dunes combine to create a journey defined by solitude, authenticity, and the profound beauty of the Western Desert. Designed for travellers seeking meaningful discovery far from the familiar.

Day 1

Arrival

Your journey begins in Cairo with a first evening on the Nile, the last of the familiar Egypt before you turn your back on it entirely and strike out for one of the remotest corners of the country, the river and the city soon to give way to oasis, salt lake and an ocean of sand.
Activities
VIP arrival; evening on the Nile.
Meals
Dinner at the hotel.
Accommodation
St Regis Cairo.
Day 2

Into the Oasis

West, across the desert, to the oasis of Siwa near the Libyan frontier, a Berber-speaking world of palm groves and salt lakes that the modern age has barely touched. You settle into a lodge built of salt-rock and palm that runs entirely on candlelight, no electricity anywhere, and you arrive as the sun drops and the groves go dark, the silence and the flickering light returning you to an older way of being in the world.
Activities
Private charter flight or desert transfer to Siwa Oasis; arrival at the candlelit lodge.
Meals
Dinner at the lodge.
Accommodation
Adrère Amellal, Siwa.
Day 3

Shali & the Salt Lakes

The ruined mud-brick fortress town of Shali, dissolving slowly back into the earth from which it was built, and the Temple of the Oracle that Alexander the Great crossed a punishing desert to consult in 331 BC, read here as history. In the mineral salt lakes the water is so dense with salt that you float without the slightest effort, lying back on a mirror-still surface under an enormous sky.
Activities
Private walk through the ruined mud-brick fortress town of Shali; Oracle Temple (history, not worship). Floating in the oasis’s mineral salt lakes.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge.
Accommodation
Adrère Amellal.
Day 4

The Great Sand Sea

A 4x4 carries you out into the Great Sand Sea, dunes rolling to the horizon in every direction, the silence absolute, the Libyan frontier somewhere beyond the shimmer. A Siwan guide reads the Berber crafts and the date groves for you, and the day closes back at the lodge with a candlelit dinner, the desert dark thick with stars beyond the palms.
Activities
Private 4×4 excursion into the Great Sand Sea; Berber craft and date-palm cultivation with a Siwan guide. Candlelit dinner at the lodge.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and candlelit dinner.
Accommodation
Adrère Amellal.
Day 5

Into the White Desert

East into the Farafra depression and the White Desert, where the wind has carved the soft chalk into blinding white shapes like nothing else on earth, mushrooms and towers and sails of stone. A private mobile camp is set among them beneath a sky with no competing light, the stars arriving in numbers that do not look quite real.
Activities
Private drive into the Farafra depression’s White Desert. Arrival at a private mobile camp under unpolluted skies.
Meals
Breakfast at Siwa. Lunch en route. Camp dinner.
Accommodation
Luxury mobile desert camp, White Desert.
Day 6

Dawn Walk & Return

A dawn walk among the chalk formations as the first light turns them pink and gold, the desert utterly silent and utterly still, and then the return, by air or road, to Cairo and a last night of the familiar after days in the deep emptiness.
Activities
Dawn walk among the chalk formations. Private flight or drive back to Cairo.
Meals
Breakfast at camp. Dinner in Cairo.
Accommodation
St Regis Cairo.
Day 7

Departure

A final Cairo morning before a private transfer carries you to the airport for your onward flight.
Activities
Private transfer to Cairo airport.
Meals
Breakfast included.
